Death is a dialogue

Death is a dialogue between
The spirit and the dust.
“Dissolve,” says Death. The Spirit, “Sir,
I have another trust.”

Death doubts it, argues from the ground.
The Spirit turns away,
Just laying off, for evidence,
An overcoat of clay.

*****

Śmierć to dialog aby
Ducha z prochem marnym.
„Znikaj”, Śmierć mówi. Duch: „Droga pani,
Odmienne mam ufanie.”

Śmierć wątpi, spod ziemi się kłóci.
Duch się odwraca,
I na dowód jedynie, odkłada,
Powłokę z ciała.
